No matter how sophisticated our society, there is always conflict. Like Goya, Sargent, Homer and Moore, who created drawings depicting the evils of war and conflict, MacDonald depicts the current time and emotions of war. Composed during a master’s workshop this work depicts two figures. One overcoming attempting to overcome adversity and conflict. The prone figure depicting the darker side of humanity and desire to dominate. Gladiator projects the primitive, base nature of human beings.
